About Strategy & Avalon Hill

Risk and Battleship

Two of our oldest strategy games are still the easiest to start with. Risk spreads 42 territories across six continents and asks 2 to 5 players to take them with armies and dice; Risk Strike shrinks that into a quick cards-and-dice game, and Risk Legacy changes permanently as you play. Battleship, a board game since 1967, is pure two-player deduction: five ships each, one guess at a time.

HeroQuest and the Avalon Hill adventures

Avalon Hill is our shelf for games with a story. HeroQuest is a dungeon crawl for 2 to 5 players, ages 14 and up, with one player running the quest and the others playing heroes. Quest packs such as Kellar's Keep, Prophecy of Telor and Jungles of Delthrak add new adventures and all require the HeroQuest Game System. Talisman is a fantasy race to the Crown, now in its 5th edition.

Horror nights and newer designs

Betrayal at House on the Hill starts as a cooperative exploration and turns on its players halfway through, when one of them becomes the traitor. Its expansions and the Deck of Lost Souls card game keep the haunted theme. Fury of Dracula is a hunt across Europe with one hidden vampire. For lighter strategy, Life in Reterra, Market Fresh, Sanibel and Cosmolancer play in under an hour.
