About Clue
The classic whodunit
Clue reached American tables in 1949 and the question has never changed: who, with what, in which room? Six suspects, six weapons and nine rooms leave plenty of ways for the evening to go wrong. The classic game plays 2 to 6 detectives from age 8. You move from room to room, make a suggestion, watch who quietly shows a card, and cross one more thing off your notepad until you are ready to accuse.
Clue Escape: solve it together
The Clue Escape games turn the mystery into a cooperative escape room in a box. The Midnight Hotel, The Illusionist's Club and The World's Fair are one-time solves — you open the envelopes once, work through the puzzles as a team and reach a single ending. Treachery at Tudor Mansion, Robbery at the Museum and Sabotage on the High Seas work the same way. They are a good pick for a group that would rather solve than compete.
Clue Junior and other suspects
Clue Junior gives kids from age 5 a gentler case — a broken toy instead of a crime scene — and one version has a 2-sided board with two games in one. For older players, Clue Conspiracy adds secret roles and bluffing for teens and adults, and the themed boxes move the mystery to Hogwarts or to the Home Alone house. The Clue Advent Calendar spreads one case over 24 days in December.
Asked about Clue
Can you replay a Clue Escape game?
Each Clue Escape box is a one-time solve, because the story and puzzles are revealed as you play. Nothing has to be destroyed, so you can pass it to another group afterward.
How many players does Clue need?
The classic game plays 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and up. It is at its best with three or more, when there are more hands to keep track of.
What age is Clue Junior for?
Clue Junior is made for kids ages 5 and up, with a friendlier mystery and simpler deduction than the classic game.
