Explorers cooperate, playing Item cards to defeat the Omens and Curses the deck reveals, from the Plague Doctor to the Beasts of the Woods. Somewhere at the table a traitor may be quietly working to unleash the one true Curse. Watch every play, bluff when you must, and decide whom to trust.
This standalone game suits three to five players ages 12 and up who like a little dread with their strategy. It plays in about 20 minutes, with simpler rules for newcomers and variations for experienced groups, and it is small enough to travel.
Ben says: spooky cards, sneaky friends, and a great night in! Avalon Hill’s Betrayal: Deck of Lost Souls is an absolute hit with my playgroup. The cards are gorgeous — eerie art, great texture, and dripping with atmosphere. Gameplay is fast, tense, and full of those “aha!” moments that make uninformed majority games such a blast. If your group loves hidden roles, dramatic reveals, and a little backstabbing fun, this one’s going to hit the table again and again.
The cards are beautiful and the gameplay is fun. It didn't take long for my family of 4 to pick up.
