How it plays

Before the first deal, everyone chooses a character — Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie or Lock, Shock and Barrel — and keeps that character's special ability for the whole game. Then you collect locations from the film, tuck money into your Bank for rent you will owe, and spring Action cards like Mausoleum or Graveyard Groove. Three complete property sets wins.

We reach for it in October and again in December, which is rather the point. It suits two to five players aged eight and up, and a full game takes about a quarter of an hour, so a rematch is never far off.
